Saturday 14 November
Six of the Shimmies entertained the lovely residents of Walton Heath Residential Home
- a fun time was had by all, here's a photo of us getting ready backstage beforehand.

Weekend of 24-25 October
Dance Around the World at Cecil House in Regent’s Park / Camden Town featured flamenco dancing with some of the Shimmy Sisters

Sunday 25 October
It was the 10th Anniversary of the Asian Resource Centre Croydon (ARCC) and Sharon performed as part of
Malti Patel's Apsara Arts bollywood group at the
Colours of Asia dance extravaganza in the Concert Hall of the Fairfield Halls in Croydon
Here she's pictured with Ann before going onstage.

More details about ARCC can be found at www.arccltd.com and the Apsara Arts website is one click away here

Wednesday 7 October
Shimmy Sisters Bernadette and Kathi danced a varied half hour set in full cabaret costume
at St Barnabas Church, Epsom, as part of activities arranged for
Epsom Mental Health Week.
-Both of us were delighted when most of the audience got up and joined us in an impromtu dance around afterwards!

Sunday 27 September
Jill ran 10km to raise funds for Cancer Research at Hampton Court
- fantastic effort Jill, well done! Jill raised just short of £200 and completed her kilometres in a very credible time indeed - even sprinting at the end!

Friday 18 September
The Shimmy Sisters provided bellylicious after-dinner entertainment for Tooting and Mitcham Football Club's
Weekend For Life Charity Event in aid of Cancer Research UK at The Hub - photos to follow!

:: Saturday 5 September ::

The Shimmy Sisters (plus an impromptu Shimmy Brother!) danced at the
South Central Music Festival which took place all weekend in Sutton Town Centre

:: Bank Holiday Monday 31st August ::
All seven Shimmy Sisters were present as one of the headlining acts at the Merton Change4Life roadshow,
an event combining the NHS Change4life initiative and the Merton Horticultural Show.
We danced a varied half-hour set in the bucolic setting of Morden Park in the most perfect Bank Holiday sun,
but reluctantly had to abandon our Dance of the Seven Veils as the lovely cooling wind wasn't having any of it!

Our thanks go to Louise and in particular to charming soundman Dick for sorting out the stage and music for us
- he said we'd built up the largest audience of the day some of whom came along later to learn Shimmy Sister bellydance
moves and grooves at our mini bellydance taster session organised by salsa-dancing Jen Smith
who we all thought was a pretty smart mover in the Change4Life tent

:: Sunday 2nd August ::

The Croydon Mela in Lloyd Park

Perfect sunny weather, happy crowds thronging around Lloyd Park in Croydon, music and movement every direction you looked
- the Mela was a delight to perform at.
Semera was stunning dancing as part of Danni's flamenco troupe "Flamenco con gusto". Their set included rumbas and fandangos
and their finale proved extremely popular with the crowd who enthusiastically shouted 'ole' to cheer on the dancers!

Sharon and Kathi danced with Ann as Bollissima, on behalf of Apsara Arts and enchanted the audience with their new dance to Mauja Hi Mauja
from the film Jab we Met, a fast, fun bhangra-inspired number that got the audience clapping and cheering, followed by a revival of Jogan and finally
a duet between Ann and Kathi to Mereboob Mere which earned Kathi some of the most fulsome compliments she'd ever had about her
bollywood dancing. Aaaah, bless!!!

::Thursday 16th July ::
Our Bollywood dancers, Sharon and Kathi along with Ann kicked off the Croydon Summer Festival
when they appeared at the Croydon Clocktower as part of Apsara Arts. They performed a bollywood dance with oriental overtones to Meheboob Mere.

:: Friday 31st July - Dance Blast ::
Our bollywood dancers Sharon and Kathi were involved in the very enjoyable Dance Blast event in Croydon's Fairfield Halls
as part of Malti Patel's Apsara Arts - representatives from schools and dance groups around the area put on a very well supported show

:: Sunday 12th July ::

:: Saturday 11th July ::

Sarah, Kathi, Jill and Becky performed for a lovely and lively crowd in Sutton High Street as part of the events organised for Sutton's
Take Part Take Pride initiative. We were very fortunate in that the rain stayed away for the duration of our set and we'd like to thank
all the organisers for their very positive feedback - including Gary pictured with us below, whose band Protegem played an excellent set
(watched from the comfort of a nearby coffee house in our case!)

:: Saturday 4th July ::

Two of our flamenco dancers Jill and Semera danced this Saturday from 6-9 pm at
BedZED Pavilion in Hackbridge - what a smashing sight they look in their fantastic costumes!
